Figuring out how to achieve the style and build of the features, within what is probably the smallest room in your home, that you want is probably the greatest challenge when newly constructing or remodeling your bathroom.  The location of existing plumbing and electrical work is a second limiting factor.  If you don't have to relocate anything it may be a relatively easy remodel but if not, you may want to investigate whether or not you can build what you want without making structural changes.  Always keep in mind that you may need a building permit.  If you are not sure, play it safe and check with your local building department and find out what codes, specifications and requirements you'll have to meet.

Designing a New Bathroom

The first step in designing a new bathroom is to make a detailed sketch of your existing layout. It is best to use graph paper so you can make it to scale. An easy way to accomplish this is to make each square 3” , 6” or even a foot. Anything that will fit the paper and allow you to add in the details with enough space.
